Developing for Android 4.1.x device on Ubuntu 12.x

Alloy project.
For some reason, following the straightforward documentation to change file:
[Project Name]/app/assets/android/default.png
is still displaying the default Powered by Titanium splash screen on the Android device before program launch.
Also did Project.. Clean.. a few times and rebuild without success.
Any hints?
