App icon has grey shadows

I have placed my app icons in my iphone resources folder, however, I get strange shadows around my icon when rendered on the simulator.

I am working in an alloy SDK 3.2.3 IOS 7.01

I have tried png 32 with tranparency, png 24 without. If I place a dark background behind the icon, the shadows are gone, however, my feeling is that they may still be there you just can't see them.
