To begin with, the orientation of the app is locked to portrait. The splash screen operates correctly on the iPhone.

However, on the iPad the orientation isn't locked at first, it begins in landscape mode in iPhone size, then a moment later switches to the correct portrait or upside down portrait orientation with the correct size.
